The "Check Engine Light" has been on in my wife's car though there seemed to be no obvious issues with the car except a tendancy to idle a bit low at stop lights. I took it to Autozone where they will check engine computer codes for you. They said that the copmuter said that the EGR valve wasn't working properly. Possible the seal needed replaced. I replaced the seal and within a few miles the check engine light returned. After which I replaced the EGR valve. The light is still on.

Should I just increase the idle speed a touch and forget about the damn light or should I look into it further?

One guy I talked to said that I might have an issue with a vacuum of some sort.

Have the code read again and post the exact code number. That might save you some money. If it is a P0401, or a P0402, replace the DPFE sensor and erase the codes. That should cure thye problem. But, please post the code. Thanks

I had it tested again yesterday and it was a P0401. I'll look into getting a DPFE sensor and I'll keep you updated.

Thanks so much for your help guys. This website is a godsend!

If you swap the DPFE and erase the code, drive it for a while. If light comes back on, remove EGR and look to see if the EGR passages under the valve are plugged. Or you can check the EGR passages first before you spend any money.
