90 Silverado Code Reading Issues

1990 Chevy Silverado, 5.7 ltr V8, 185K ...Having a problem with service port, unable to pull trouble codes. Upon inserting tester into port, no response from tester. I am trying to locate the power and ground wires from port back to computer. Any Ideas would be appreciated
