79 for hesitation problem

Ok so I just got a 1979 ford f150 highboy 4x4 with a 351m. And I've been having this intermittent hesitation problem when she's cold and sometimes after she's warmed up. I know normally hesitation means the accelerator ump is going out but that's not an option cause the thing has a brand new edelbrock 1406 carb. I did change the fuel filter and after that it didn't do it for about a day then it came back. It has a new distributor,plugs, wires, msd blaster coil. Also has a mild rv cam and an edelbrock preformer intake. If any one has any input on this problem please let me know thanks

did you set up the carb after installing? reading up on the carb sounds like this might be your issue below.
Q: I purchased your 1406 carburetor and it is too lean, what should I do?
A: The 1406 is calibrated lean for fuel economy. In some applications, re-calibration of the carburetor may be necessary for optimum performance. See page 22-23 in the supplied owner’s manual. Step # 23 on the calibration reference chart is a good starting point for enriching the air/ fuel mixture.
