2004 Mazda Tribute Code P0193 fuel pressure sensor high input Sign In

2004 Mazda Tribute V6 with 148000 miles; throwing code P0193 fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high input. I have erased the code twice. It comes right back. Vehicle is running OK.

Can someone tell me where that part is located?

Thanks.

Pretty self explanatory, it's on the fuel rail.

You are always there, and I appreciate your help. The sensor was at the very end of the rail and me and another guy overlooked it several times and we were cold sober.

we replaced the part with a defective part out of the box - a hole in the internal diaphram allowing fuel to be sucked into the vacuum line. Car was OK for 3 days then started billowing white smoke, shuddered, stumbled and died.

We put the original sensor back in, blew out the lines and the car runs OK, but code 0193 is back. So we'll get a new replacement.

Again, HT, you are the best.

Vacuum line?????

The pressure sensor is an electrical sensor, not vacuum.

OK, something is wrong here. What you are describing is a vacuum pressure regulator and if you have one of those, then you don't have a variable pressure system and no pressure sensor.

I looked up that code and found it doesn't even apply to that vehicle so something is definitely wrong here, probably with your code reader.

He probably gave you the wrong year of the vehicle. The fuel pressure sensor wasn't used until 2005 and up.

The sensor does sense manifold vacuum via a vacuum hose. The reason is does that is because there is manifold pressure or vacuum on the end of the injector. When there is vacuum in the intake and an injector opens the vacuum will draw more fuel out of the injector. The pressure in the manifold and the rail pressure difference is made up in the sensor's voltage output, so the controller can compensate for that difference.

You're probably right about the year.

The vacuum line is a new one on me. I have never seen that on a Ford that uses a FPDM. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry for the wrong year. Its an 05, and the new sensor fixed the problem. The first sensor did leak fuel into the vacuum line, and the engine seemed as if it was going to explode.

Thanks again for the help.
