2004 Hyundai Accent Purge System Sign In

I have check engine light on my 2004 Accent. Code is for "incorrect purge rate detected". (Don't have the code # handy but can get it.) When I pull the purge valve connector at idle it stops clicking and the idle speed drops. Reconnect and it speeds up again. Should it be purging at idle? Purging the canister I thought was an under throttle thing in any car. (And shouldn't the idle speed be corrected to a set value in any case? ) Should I try replacing this electrovalve or is it possibly getting a faulty signal from something else?

This is a 1.6L engine?
remove and test purge valve, should NOT allow vacuum to pass thru without 12v applied.... you can use your mouth to draw vac.
Check ohms - @26Ω at 70°.....
One wire is 12v the other is ground - KOEO you could check that ground side is open not grounded or shorted to voltage... likely a bad valve - stuck open

It purges when the engine is idling. In fact, that is one of the best times to purge because there is lots of vacuum in the intake. Don't get EVAP confused with EGR. EGR should never operate at idle.

P0441 is popping up?

You can also disconnect the hose from the purge valve that goes to the canister with the engine idling. With the electrical connector unplugged from the valve, you should not have any vacuum at the valve nipple you disconnected the hose from.

Yes it is P0441. (All Accents were 1.6 by 2004 I believe). I will try replacing this part then. I didn't want to be doing that if it was OK and just being badly run by some other component. I really have no idea how this works tbroughout the wbole range of engine operation. Older cars that I am used to avoided purging at idle presumably because of the havoc that would create with the RPM. BTW believe it or not this car has no EGR system!

Are you going to test it or just go ahead and replace it because we told you how to test it?? If you do replace it, let us know how things go.
