These codes are for a downstream sensor so they would have no bearing on engine performance. They only monitor Cat performance.

The fuel pressure for this vehicle is VIN Z 335-375 (48-54 psi)
Except VIN Z 385-425 kPa (55-62 psi)

I don't know what that last stuff was that you gave me but those are not OBD2 codes. The first ones were.
We need some specifics on exactly what is happening to your truck and what codes are being stored.

Re: 2003 5.3 VORTEC P158 P160 CODE Sign In

No, that is not at all what those codes mean. You are getting conflicting codes for that sensor but like I told you in the beginning, that is a downstream sensor and has no bearing whatsoever on engine performance. They are Catalytic Converter monitors only.

Re: 2003 5.3 VORTEC P158 P160 CODE Sign In

No, I'm saying the computer isn't seeing any problem at all, just one issue with the Converter monitor but that doesn't effect driveability at all.

Re: 2003 5.3 VORTEC P158 P160 CODE Sign In

That's most likely a bad O/2 sensor. I'd take a shot at replacing that. It's the one after the Converter on the passenger side.

Re: 2003 5.3 VORTEC P158 P160 CODE Sign In

I just cleared a P0160 code today. Cool

As correctly stated above, this is generic O2 sensor related code as follows:
- "P0160 O2 Senor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 2)"

On my vehicle, Bank 2 Sensor 2 refers to the Left Side Back O2 sensor located downstream from the Catalytic Converter. Documentation says that it is used to gauge the performance of the Catalytic Converter only and is simply not used by the Engine Control Unit for controlling the engine at all. The engine is actually controlled by the other O2 sensor which is upstream of the Catalytic Converter and closer to the exhaust manifold.

In my case the O2 sensor connector had come loose from its anchor and was laying on the exhaust pipe. The connector on the O2 sensor side and the connector on the main harness side were both melted. That's what P0160 was trying to tell me.

I changed for a universal O2 sensor ($70 CND) and bought an OEM harness side connector, with pigtail, from the dealer ($40 CND). After installation, clearing out the existing codes with my OBD2 unit and driving a few miles the P0160 code is now cleared!

Hope this helps.
Best of success. Smile
