Bought this vehicle last month, very next day after buying yellow engine light showing constantly - judge my luck!

Otherwise the car is running ok, london-birmingham twice , no aparent issues.

Anyway, took to local mechanic, he first reset the code however it reappeared. Later he replaced the Lambda sensor costing around £200. After that, diagnosis shows some fault code which needs manufacturer repair only.

Could you "gurus" please share your thoughts - should I go ahead with manufacturer repair OR keep driving!

have it scanned and post ALL the codes. Someone will advise

There is no code that requires manufacturer repair only. Your mechanic simply owns a cheap code reader that cannot read manufacturer specific codes. Is this some guy operating out of his house or an actual shop?

Any good shop should be able to read codes with their scanner. I own one made by SnapOn and I can read all of them on that car. You may need a new shop to go to. Just a hint, the shop you need isn't the one with the cheapest prices and coupons in the sunday paper. Good shops pay dearly for tools, equipment, ongoing training, information subscriptions and the hourly wages of the people competent enough to do it right the first time. Their hourly rate will reflect that. But that $200 sensor might not have needed to be done and may have been a wild guess. If this guy can't even read an OEM code, he certainly has no business doing driveability work.
