2000 chevy caviler 2.4 liter

I have a 2000 chevy caviler and can not retrieve the codes. code reader say's ErPr tried another code reader and could not get it to pick up the codes either.
Any ideas what to look for?

Check your cigarette lighter fuse to make sure you have power at the ALDL. You may just need a better code reader.
