I have a 1996 Dodge truck /w 2 codes. I have gotten codes from check engine light and they are 31, & 42. I have a Haynes repair manual. It says code 31 is for "Problem /w canister purge solenoid circuit". I don't know where it is located and how to test! Code 42 is "Auto shutdown relay(ASD)control circuit indicates an open or shorted condition". I know it is a relay in the power distribution center in engine compartment. Which of the 3 is it and how do I test it? Update, I may have found the problem! Last week I sprayed the battery terminals /w a red sealer, it may have the battery to loose connection. Maybe. Will see if codes come back!
