Looks like my fan doesn't work due to a bad connection at the blower motor. After much computer/forum searching, alot of frustration looking under my dash (before the online searching) this seems to be the problem.

Is this connection replaceable? The 2 wires run into a rubber piece that then goes into the motor. It certainly doesn't look like a typical connection that you unplug. Before I start yanking on that rubber piece I thought I'd ask here. Any idea what a new motor runs to buy if this connection is not repairable? I'm in BC, Canada.

Thanks everyone...

Ken

If motor is getting no power it may be the fault of the resistor for blower speed. Hard to say for sure. If power gets there my best guess is a bad blower motor. T

There is power to the motor, it simply cuts in and out. Seems like there is a bad connection with the wires going into the motor. Going to pull it out again and see if that rubber piece where the wires enter the motor comes off. Might as well, it's 4 days and $50 for a new motor.

That rubber piece may just be a pass through grommet to seal the blower housing. If this is a non air-conditioned car the actual connection is at the back of the motor and is the last thing to disconnect after the blower wheel and the retaining screws are removed. I don’t think you can even see the connection until you get that far.

The rubber piece is just a pass through afterall. Took it out again last night and removed the fan wheel itself and the motor wiring isn't accessible unless the housing is split in 2. The model does have A/C with it, I don't see any access to the wiring. I blew out the housing with my compressor, reassembled the fan wheel, gave it a test run before I bolted it back it and it worked. Bolted it back in and you guessed it, doesn't work. Is it possible that the problem is the motor itself kicking in and out (ie. on its last legs) or do you think it is still a wiring issue? Not sure if I split the motor it'll go back together. There are 2 heavy steel tabs bent over to hold the 2 halves together.

According to the repair manual you don’t have to split the housing to remove the motor even on an AC car.
But the manual has been wrong before. LOL
Yes it could be the motor that’s starting to crap out but you won’t know for sure until you get to the connector.
As far as taking them apart, I have never even bothered, but me doing this for customers is different, I don’t want to do a maybe kind of fix for them.
