homemade heater blower motor set up Sign In

Hi

rewiring a heater blower motor (as i can not find the problem with the factory set up ) so i ran wire from the battery with a 25 amp fuse and a 20 amp toggle switch inside the cab to turn the fan on and off only problem i have is the toggle switch gets a bit to warm it was a 20 amp switch with a plastic housing .........so i hooked up a 50 amp toggle switch with a metal housing well the 50 amp switch does not last more than a few days ....the 20 amp one works a lot better ...so is the 50 amp ones not really rated for 50 amps ?

also what if i use a lets say 70 amp relay to the fan for a shorter run with the higher amps...the fan pulls about 21 amps btw

any ideas ?

thanks

You are kidding right?

Just fix it the way it should be and carry a fire extinguisher even while removing all that crap,

Your quick fix is buy another car. Stop with the nonsense you are trying. You know nothing about electrical circuits and you're going to end up starting a fire. You CANNOT run that blower motor with direct wiring and a toggle switch.
