Sounds like a starter or it's solonoid. You can look with a test light to see if they are getting power,

it's been a while but i'm back on. i was wondering if you could tell me if i could use a multi-tester instead and if so what setting it would need to be on and how to test the solenoid and/or starter???Smile

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

YES - just set it for volts and hook up to battery. Should read 12v plus a smidge. With a buddy see what it reads. when asked to start. If no change it is likely a connection or faulty starter/solonoid. If it drops voltage more than to 9V you need to question the battery and a short in starter. Hope that helps you get going with the fix,

That sounds like a pretty clear problem, check for recalls, best,

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

These things can be tricky by keyboard---- Does this have a hydraulic clutch which is likely.?? If so there will be a smaller master cylinder that usually uses common brake fluid and should say so on cap. It shouldn't use fluid so there is probably a leak if so.

There could be some kind of interlock system to prevent car from starting unless clutch is fully depressed. Most don't stop the key from turning as mentioned but just don't let current go to starter. First thing is to fill it up if low with correct fluid - usually DOT3 brake fluid. Certainly check and then look for leaks. This happening just after jacking up car could be a cooincidnece or is it possible that the jack was misplaced and damaged a line or the recieving end known as a slave cylinder. If you find something they get fixed much like brake hydraulics.

Always use a safety jack stand when jacking up a car and getting under it!!!! Use care where you place the lifting jack.

It's possible that the two problems are related but I think less likely. Post back with any observations and we keep trying, best,

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

ok now we have fuel and fire, the engine will turn over but wont start, but i think i know why and that is becuse it was completly empty and it is a fuel injected car it needs to be primed and i dont know how to do that so if you would be so kind as to tell me how to do that it would help a lot thanx matt

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

There should be a port to check fuel pressure with a shrader valve - with key on "run" position just bleed the air out but it's easier to just use starting fluid in intake (carefully) It should run for a short while a couple times and purge the air out. Go easy on the amount of starting fluid and if you need to take a snorkle hose off - put it back on before trying as it works well as a fire/spark arrester.

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

It's in the fuel rail - don't waste the time use the starting fluid, if that doesn't work after a few tries there's still a problem. Always best not to overwork the starter motor! 10 seconds is enough! Let it cool! -----

Re: engine wont turn over Sign In

If the engine won't crank, how do you know there's spark and whether there's injector pulse? I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but if your car was in my bay, I'd focus on the no-crank aspect first. Am I missing something here?
