electrical issues with my 77 el camino Sign In

So I just recently when and added a second battery to my car and I while I did that I went and changed out the universal ignition switch 3pole I had for a better 4 pole and also rechecked all ignition system connections and replaced any open wires I could find. The last thing I needed was to find out when I was done with it all that my car wouldn't start. I figured it was the universal switch I used and that it was no good but that wasnt the case. So Ive had ideas up to my knees and troubleshot my no turn/ no start problem and today I have come up with a possibility that maybe just maybe my ignition system is not active. So fyi I've had to do a bypass hotwire and now Im having trouble getting my starter to turn over. All the wires seem to be in the correct order but is there anyone here that can maybe help me narrow down my problem?

What were the problems to begin with if any? Why do you think this car/truck needs two batteries? I can see having a nice jumper box kept charged with plenty of power - not cheap things if any good but useful but should find a good place to hide it in this 1/2 car 1/2 truck so one doesn't just up and take a walk on you,
