car won't crank won't start first couple of tries!! Sign In

Hi
When I try to start my car I just hear a click (no crank) and car won't start! To start it I turn the key slowly in the ignition and that start the car. I hear a sound like static when I turn the key slowly. I took the car to mechanic who connected the battery to a machine and he told me that my battery, starter and altenator are working properly. Check engine light is on and giving P0340 so I changed the camshaft position sensor but that didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions why car won't start? ( car is honda civic dx 2005)
thank you very much

Sounds like is may have an issue with the ignition switch but that needs to be determined though electrical testing while following a wiring diagram.

1. Not the total point but how did a car that doesn't crank hence not run get to be tested all is fine by mechanics?
___________
As HT just said it seems with buzzing or anything heard the problem is with ignition switch or perhaps just inadequate connection from those band battery clamps used on many makes and could go intermittent on you or while tested showed everything fine.

Even if engine was seized up the start circuit would give you a noticeable snap that it was trying at the starter and apparently not that at all. More testing and while it does it or plain look at those clamps right at battery if lousy looking they probably are,
