I have a 1994 chevy pickup. The break lights do not work with the ignition on but work fine with the ignition off. The 3rd light (top light) works fine no matter what. I have tried a few things but after reading up it seems like the combo switch. How do I get to it and what does it look like? Thanks for the help.

This one doesn't really have a combo switch. It has a traditional turn signal switch and it's quite complicated to change and requires special tools, more so if it's a tilt wheel.

Any ideas what might be wrong then? All lights work fine. Just the back break lights and just when the trucks off.

OH, I agree the turn signal switch is likely the problem but taking that steering column apart is not job for a beginner.
