airbag module help

I have some experiance with airbag repair but I am trying to replace the passenger airbag module in my wifes 2008 gmc acadia. I believe it is in the console but not for sure, I dont want to rip it apart and find out it is somewhere else. I have a replacement module already the dealer told me that mine was bad and is why the light stays on continually, I took loose the side panel but can't see anything. So before I take anymore apart I need some guidance, anybody have any experiance with these? Thanks AD

It's under the dash pad, behind the glove box.

I removed the glove box and there is a plastic cover above, will I have to take out the dash in order to get to it or does that plastic come out?

Yep, the instrument panel dash pad has to be removed.

to make sure I didn't miss word this it is the aluminum module that is about 3x6 inches with a big black terminal plug connection and is the part that controls the air bag system. I looks like a chunk of aluminum and has a number on the sticker =25861147 at the top.

the part I bought was called passenger side airbag control module.

I don't know what you have there. There is only one control module for all the air bags and it is under the console. What I directed you to is the passenger airbag itself.
You started this question by stating you had experience in airbag repair. I really wonder about that. I generally don't advise untrained people on airbag components as they are very dangerous but if you don't know the difference between and airbag and a control module, you need to stay away from this. If you're changing a module, it requires programming anyway.

I just hope you don't end up with an airbag exploding in your face. That's why we don't advise untrained people to mess with explosive airbags.
