I bought a Duralast (601) wire pigtail which is not color coded. All 3 wires are coated white with no further information. My 2003 Ford Taurus has a brown/red; brown/green; brown/white wires to the sensor. I need to know what is what and which is which :) Which of the 3 unmarked wires on the pigtail go to each of the wires on my Taurus. Thanks!!!

You splice them into the same position they are in in the old pigtail. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I know that. The old one melted and fused to the pigtail and the whole thing was thrown away. I don't have the old one to compare to.

Is this a single overhead or a double overhead cam engine.

I looked up double overhead. The single is probably the same.

Thanks for that schematic. Now I just need to know which of my cars 3 wires attach to these pins. The wires are brown/green; brown/red and brown/white. Thanks so much! (I'm tired of taking the bus.) :P

Oh sorry! I see the wire colors now. One more question though. Is the view of the drawing from the pigtails wire side, or from the other side that enters into the feedback sensor? Thanks again!

Use the alignment groove in the connector to determine that. The groove is next to pin #3.

(I'll start a new thread later today if need be.) I put the new sensor on and within one minute the back plate started to blow out. Snapped it back in place and tried again and one of the hoses blew off of the other end (off the metal tube on the car.) So, too much pressure going through it? If so, what is the cause? Thanks!

Too much back pressure in the exhaust will cause that. Clogged exhaust or converter(s) are suspects. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I had planned on trying Cataclean to unclog, but I won't be able to drive the recommended 50 miles if the hoses are blowing off in one minute. Any other way for me to unclog? Could it be an EGR valve stuck open? How long do catalytic converters last? Should I just get a new one? I don't hear any rattling from it. Thanks!

There really is no way to unclog a converter short of replacing it. Those chemicals are really just snake oil. If the honeycomb is broken and blocking the flow, nothing is going to change that.
