At the company we have a generator set with komatsu engine which has a voltage regulator of 24v. When the engine starts I can read 27.5v. Is the voltage not harmful to the batteries?

Re: Voltage regulator Sign In

a 12 volt system will run at 14.5 when running so it doesn't surprise me that a 24 volt system would run at 27 when running

Re: Voltage regulator Sign In

Scratch head? I've only dealt with TWO 12V batteries in series to make 24V on purpose and chargers for those devices were up that high while charging. I say normal for this. General is a "cell" is really at 2.1 volts / cell for lead/acid and reads 12.6V fully charged and charges higher as HT said so the math works for what you see,
