Shogun rear lights don’t work Sign In

After towing a trailer with my 2013 Shogun Van sg2 4 work, I have lost my upper rear indicator lights, and nighttime lights on my van. Everything else works front and rear, and lower set of rear lights.

When my trailer is attached there is no difference on the vehicle lighting system.

My trailer fuse is working OK and the individual fuses are OK for the lights that are not working when attached to the vehicle.

The bulbs look fine

The trailer lights are the same in respect of lights working and not working

Any thoughts on what me be wrong and how it may be fixed.

Thanks for your help.

?? Do you mean you towed with this van and now "clearance" lights to the van, without trailer don't work? It's not wired properly for that trailer if van didn't come with a towing option it probably needed specific pigtail made up that compensate for lighting on trailer?

Who made up wiring for this or do you know? I think that's the problem trailer's need don't match what this van can do at all now this issue burned something out?

Yes your understanding of what is not working is correct.

Now with a trailer or without a trailer the lights are not working.

we have towed with that trailer in the past and it’s been fine. Everything worked. Also had another trailer and likewise that worked as well.

It was a proper Mitsubishi tow bar and electrics fitted at outset.

Do you still think something has burned out and if so any thoughts on where to start?

How about some specifics on what make and model this is. "Shogun" isn't a make or even a model.

You state the fuses are good. How did you determine this? You need to test these fuses with a test light at both sides to confirm the fuse is actually receiving power.

edit: I Googled what this is and apparently it's not something sold in the US so I have no wiring diagrams for it.

If this vehicle was made "trailer ready" it should have a plug near the hitch to buy a proper pigtail for. You've switch trailers may have needed one for each?

If nothing there it wasn't ready for lighting yet IDK if it was just hacking into or what but point to why there's this problem now.
It should be a different circuit than without a trailer OMG I couldn't know each vehicle nor what trailer is equipped with would matter.
So if your clearance lights (for example) were just tapped into for "running" or "parking" lights for trailer it messed those up.
Hopefully trailers were not overly demanding and you may still find some fuse or wire where you plug the trailers into that's the issue now?
Understood the tow bar was there bet no wiring so who did that? Mitsubishi can't know what you'll haul.
Left to guessing as overhead or clearance lights are NOT required place by place, rather side marker lighting seems pretty standard. Size of trailer would be more or fewer of those also incandescent or LED?
I can't help for two trailers and now this happened.

I'll try a guess: Wiring hacked into for something simpler and nothing happened? Now it did so look at the vehicle wiring whether a plug is there or wires just tapped into. That would be a weak link hope it's obvious.

Test light for fuses and wires on to (another guess) first socket the vehicle's clearance lights get power I may be all burning up right at that socket? May not have blown a fuse, again I can't know,
