My horn doesn't work, help needed Sign In

I have a '95 Camaro and recently my horn stopped working. I checked the fuse and it was blown. When I went to replace this fuse, as soon as I put the new fuse in there was a lot of sparking and the new fuse was immediately blown. I would assume that the problem with the electrical system is furthur down the chain. Any help in what my next steps would be to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the cigarette lighter is on the same circuit as the horn.
Fuse #11/ 25 amp according to my wiring diagram anyway.
The lighters are famous for shorting out and I don’t just mean the part you hold in your hand but the actual socket. Try disconnecting the lighters wiring at the back of the lighter and see if the fuse will hold. Maybe before that have a look that there isn’t anything jammed in there to cause it to short out.
Let us know what you find.
Dan.

Dan, thank you so much for the help. It was as simple as removing the cigarette lighter plug from the lighter itself, and then I was able to replace the fuse without it immediately blowing. Apparantly it was the metal to metal contact of the lighter that was the problem. Thanks again.

Just for others who may go here. I find a lot of coins in a cigar lighter because so many folks leave the lighter out for charging phones and things and use a close by ash tray for change or stuff. -- And yes the element itself can fail. T

Thanks for posting the fix that will help others as much as anything else.
