Major electrical issue, car won't start but all devices and lights are working. Sign In

Hello,

I had this issue several months ago but after a few minutes I tried to start again and It was fine; up until now.

I got home from work today and as soon as I pulled into the driveway the car dash lights all came on and the engine started sounding really loud like I was revving (I was doing like 5km/h up my drive way).

I turned it off and it would not start again, tried boosting the battery and nothing. I left it plugged in for 5 minutes tried again and started up - Unplugged the battery booster and tried to start the car up without it, came on for 15 seconds then sputtered out again - Would not start after this.

I took both the battery connector terminals and cleaned them to make sure the contacts were good. Fired up the car and it started, then the instrument cluster fully lit up again and the car once again sound like I was putting the pedal all the way down with the radiator fans running very loud.

Sometimes when I tried to start it, those radiator fans would kick on, but not the engine. I left it sit for 2 hours now and still nothing. Just a very faint clicking sound when the key is turned accompanied by a humming electrical sound.

I was testing the car early today for fault codes since my engine light had been on for the last week and it only returned P0456 (which I know is "Evaporative Emission System - Small Leak Detected"). I reset this code last night and it did not appear again on the codes I got today (below)

During the time I had finally got the car started after cleaning the terminals I was able to pull a laundry list of codes almost all correlating to electrical.

U0101 (Lost Communication With TransmissionControl Module)
U0402 (Invalid Data Received From Transmission Control Module)
U1110 (lost wheel speed message)
U1120 (Lost Wheel Distance Message)
U1403 (Implausible Fuel Level Signal Received_
U110e (loss of signal from the ambient temp sensor)
P0481 (Cooling Fan Relay 2 Control Circuit)
P0480 (Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit)
P0463 (Fuel Level SSensor Circuit High Input)

When I was moving the car into the garage (once I got it started the second time) you can see that the RPM or Speed does not register, both stay at 0 even though I am accelerating. I have posted the link for the 3 videos with descriptions of what is happening on youtube.

Anyone have any ideas? I live in the country so a tow truck is pretty pricey, I would like to try and find this issue myself. Either way looks like I won't be going in to work tomorrow.

I have also attached an image of the instrument cluster once I got the car running. New battery was put in 4 months ago.

UPDATE:

Adding another video where the sound is more audible.

Year, make, model and engine would help!

OK - can only speak wild generalities but it that worked at all cables in general are in question both ends of each. Why didn't this get cleaned with a new battery? New doesn't mean it's any good either so must be charged and tested or all bets off.

What could codes mean if just cleaned the battery terminals you reset or erased them. Car is obviously confused or damaged by battery, cable connections, voltage spikes possible and don't trust your code readings.

So you are out in the country. Is it impossible to get a motor club membership that could tow this some distance where you are so you can get help or do things closer to supplies/tools as needed?

Year, make and car info first and pls add country as if not US or Canada regulars here will have little direct specs for this car as it's US based,
