Disable Alarm System On 1994 Ford Ranger. Sign In

1994 Ford Ranger, V/6.....125000 Miles.
I am having problems with my remote control for locks & anti-theft system. I only have one control & sometimes it works fine, then other times I have to take it apart & move the battery around to make better contact & sometimes this works & sometimes it doesn't. A lot of times I have to keep taking it apart & putting it back together until it works. I'm afraid the control or sensor is going bad & I wont be able to use the truck. I have checked the remote & battery at a parts store & they both are good. I looked in the fuse & breaker box under the hood & there is nothing I can do from there. Is there an inline fuse with this, are is there some other disconnect? I didn't buy the truck new & I don't know if it is factory installed but it is a neat job & it looks like it is.
All help greatly appreciated,
Jack.

If it is a factory remote, you can buy another key fob and program it to the truck. That is the cheapest option. Unless you want to lock and unlock the truck manually with the key.

Yes way2old, I would like to disable it & use the key.Is there an easy way to do that? Now when I try to use the remote to turn the alarm off & open the door the alarm starts. This remote has 2 buttons with Ford on it. Do you think it may be the sensor? If it was it seems like it would no shut the alarm off when it starts.
Thanks for your fast reply,
Jack. Unsure

Try this first. I don't see any easy way to disable the system. Fuse 6 under the hood controls the door locks. It may also control other functions.

To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the remote entry receiver module, perform the following steps:
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON or ON/ACCESSORY position and momentarily short the two terminals of the Program Connector (J4) (a two-pin connector taped to the wire assembly and accessed by removing the LH quarter access panel). All doors should lock then unlock. Remove shorting pin.
  2. Press any button on transmitter. All doors should lock then unlock to verify the transmitter has been programmed. If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same transmitter).Repeat Step 2 to program additional transmitters into the remote entry receiver module (up to four transmitters maximum).
  3. Turn ignition switch off. All doors should lock then unlock.
  4. Check operation.

I can open doors fine, it's the alarm I can't disarm. When I insert the key in the ignition switch the alarm goes off. That is what I need to disconnect.
Thanks, Jack.

I can not find any anti theft system for a 94 ranger. I can find it on the Explorer and Areostar. I wil try to remember to keep looking. Shoot me a PM or e mail to keep reminding me.

Thank You Way Too Old For your help. I took it to a shop in my town & they uninstalled the alarm. It was an add on. Thats why we couldn't find anything on it.

Greatly Appreciated,
Jack.
