Chevy Silverado 2011 total loss of power catastophic Sign In

I was trying to help out and jump a car. I've done it many times. Truck was running, the other person tried to start the car several times. I was heading to the door to rev up the motor and the truck just suddenly stopped. Absolutely no power to anything. Checked a few fuses (it has many). Is there a fusible link to the battery? Did I blow the computer? Thanks for any ideas. I'll probably have it towed in I guess.

There are likely a few fusible links.

The days of using another car and jumper cables are over. Today's alternator cannot handle the sudden load of a jump start,

check the underhood fuse box- there is a maxi fuse for the electrical system....

As my colleague mentioned todays vehicles with the expensive electronics do NOT like being jumped.

EDIT- they are now called MEGA fuses, sorry

True - Be the nice guy and you get the troubles so really avoid using your vehicle to jump another but rather use a jumper box or if room, a real battery with strap kept charged just for this. If the same car you are jumping is in need all the time think about letting that one get fixed and save your truck!
