About to connect new battery and alternator "BUT" need to find out "Y" and where to look for other damage. (fuses Brakers etc...) Alternator power spiked. cooked battery and wipers running on their own/ also driver side window went down but will not go back up??? Fuse and or Brakers?? Can I get picture diagrms Of charging system and safeties?? 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Should I check for other damage before connecting new alternator and battery??

Still me Yeh 2000 Mitsubishi Motero Sport, 3.0, Air. Do U think it'll be alright to hook-up alt n bat.? Then go from there? Sorry to keep contacting you but you are the only one answering. Or maybe I'm not doing the open forum thing correctly. Sorry. Thank you for helping! I'm on fixed income and do not wish to cause more problems than I already have. Again thank you!!!

OK: Not much time right now but you could put alternator in, belt proper now. If you can, charge the new battery before as most even new are not fully charged it just makes it better right away for any other issues that you do have.
If voltage regulation allowed a spike how much damage is yet to be discovered. Know that when putting battery in, have it all in place -- positive cable first on and cleaned up then negative last. If that seriously objects with everything off in the car something is wrong or shorted somewhere to be found.
Any memory in computer controlled things would be lost, some could come right back for info as to which circuit is the problem. Write down any codes and post the #s and do not just think a certain code tells you what to replace it's the circuit with a fault.
I don't think I could guess what could be most likely for the voltage spike to be harmed. Open to assorted problems simple up to expensive?
Go ahead with at least the alternator and look for any wrinkled wiring or burnt looking plugs to do with that. Snow day here as said so limited time for me and others more likely to have some specifics for this car. Just hang in there for replies,

You really won't know what is going on until you put everything back together. Most computer modules have some protection from power surges, but really don't know how good it is. Connect everything back together and then monitor the battery voltage. Should be around 14 volts.
