Brake light not lighting up but tail-lights work Sign In

Hello all,

I have a very confusing problem with my car. My car information is as follows:

Year of vehicle: 2008
Make of vehicle: Versa S
Model of vehicle Nissan
Engine size: 1.8L
Mileage/Kilometers: ~110,000

To make a long story short, my brake lights do not illuminate brightly when my brake pedal is pressed. The tail lights work when the car lights are in the on position. I have actually been turning on my car lights when breaking to indicate I'm breaking, but I have nothing to show for when it's dark and I already have them on, but that's beside the point. I have replaced the bulbs and the brake stop switch with no luck. I am trying to avoid a mechanic trip because I'm on a tight budget and I like to learn. I have been Googling all week to determine the issue with no luck. I do not think it is a turn signal switch as I have googled because the turn signals work fine, the last easy thing I can think of is a fuse issue but I can't find any fuse information on the internet. If anyone can help me out I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Re: Brake light not lighting up but tail-lights work Sign In

I just found some conflicting info on brake lights either the same bulb as "running" lights or not. Some vehicles use different bulbs for directionals than the same for brake lights some don't by location and laws some use amber only in rear for directionals and a separate bulb some don't.

A test light and the owner's manual would be handy for fuse and location if done that way or what. Test things with a test light not looks of fuses and sockets or a brake light switch you could have checked and not replaced as a guess,

Does the 3rd "high mount" brake light work?

The 3rd brake light does not light up either.

You need to check fuse #7. It is a 10 amp.
