I had a very strange occurrence two days ago with my 2011 gmc Yukon XL/Denali.
My wife and I go to the Sonic drive-in for a burger. It was mid day so no interior lights were on, and the radio was off. We were there for 20 minutes. Time to leave-I turned
on the ignition, twisted the key to “start” and NOTHING not even a click. No dash lights, no interior lights, nothing but the “check engine icon” on the dash. I took the shift lever out of park and back in again-fooled with it for 10 minutes. Still no response from the battery. New Energizer battery (730 CCA) was installed Jan 2014. Finally got a jump start. Borrowed jumper cables (small gauge wire) resulted in a slow charge which took 20 minutes before engine would start. (tried every 5 minutes until success) Drove 1/2 mile to home,with engine running voltage at battery measured 14.4 volts. Turned engine off- voltage at battery - 12.22 v.
Do I have a battery problem or could it be something else.

There's a very simple way to find out........... have it tested. It does sound like a battery issue.

I had the battery tested at a battery shop today. It was tested under load and the meter indicated GOOD with some reserve power after the test. The battery connection leads are well secured to the batt. terminals.
I double checked for interior lights inadvertantly left on. None.
Just before the trip to the Sonic my wife used the truck 5 days in a row on 3 to 6 mile trips, 6 times per day with nary any indication of starting problems. The mystery continues.

Load testing is not the preferred method of testing now. The standard is conductance testing. It's a far better measure of the battery's condition. Most auto parts stores can do this.

Has anyone charged the battery up yet to do anything for testing? Bet not. 1/2 mile drive home didn't charge it so testing would be invalid IMO anyway.
Actually when known good I think you'll find a connection problem the root problem or at the age defective cable(s) as again IMO that was too fast to reduce power to nothing,
