Air Bag Indicator Light will not go off in a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Sign In

I took my car to Hyundai dealership and they told me that I need something called "PODS ECU, which cost $2988.19 and $500 for labor. The code that was showing on my paper is " 31 CGH ".
Is their anyone that can help me with information or tell me a better way to fix my car so it will pass inspection? Thank you.

Yikes! Just searched the whole web (kidding) for this not about cost but reasons why came up a lot.
A bad connection was likely! Not necessarily a monster or could be.

Seems even passenger's seat and belt could be the problem or rodent damage to wires so info was all over the place.

Yes finding and resetting things if the case is no doubt going to involve the Hyundai dealer.

This is a first so if so much showed up about connection problems what has happened to this car since it was fine the light not showing?

Did you do something like overload the passenger's seat or use seal belt somehow all messed up in some way?
Anything aftermarket installed?
I'd just hate to see this go thru all this to find out a stupid wire is chewed up or something else at fault which is what I found most searching the web just as you can to see what or if you know what might have brought this on go looking for damage,

I don't know where you got that code from because it doesn't match up with any manufacturer code.

It sounds like you have an issue with the passenger seat occupant sensor. The problem is that it is actually a self contained computer and made right into the seat so not only do you have to purchase this unit but either the seat has to come apart or maybe you have to purchase the whole seat. It likely requires programming after installation also.

This doesn't sound unusual and is likely your only option.

Saw that while looking about seat HT. Take the cover right off of it and redo it! Yikes - who has the upholstery ring pliers if that's even part of this? That's why I asked if something whacked happened like loading a cord of wood in the car all over the seats or what.

It did say if nobody was in passenger's seat it wouldn't deploy air bags without thinking there was an occupant,

No, these things fail on their own. He may have to purchase a whole seat.

This is now missing info as OP hasn't said if anything caused this way out of ordinary? Perhaps we aren't supposed to know how this whole mess happened in the first place..........????
