A lady with a horrible electrical car problem Sign In

I have had electrical glitches with my 99 Buick Park Ave for 1.5 years now (door locks would lock/unlock while driving on certain trips, steering radio volume control would work/not work on days, gauges would push to max and fall and an "unknown user" would come up when starting up the car on days).

Today, place keys into the ignition and the car is dead- no lights, no dings and rings..dead. Pop the hood and slam it down, the car starts up when cranked. Drove 5 miles down the road and all gauges push to max and fall. Lost gas and power steering and placed emergency signals on. While this is happening as I'm driving, I can't remember if there were lights on the instrument panel or not (like earlier, there were no lights on panel when trying to start the car) but the hazard lights were on and clicking. Placed the car in park, took keys out and back into ignition, car starts back up. Gauges flash to max and and fall and I'm back onto the road. Arrived home, turned off the car, opened door and locked it from inside, all power lost again within the car as before.

Could this be a loose wire causing these issues?
I'm a 23 year old female heading to a car electrics shop tomorrow. I'd like to have an idea as to what this is walking in before I am raped of unnecessary repairs and charges to my car.

It COULD be a loose wire or bad connection, but that doesnt mean that it WILL be a cheap/easy fix. If the diagnosis seems fishy, post it here and someone might be able to tell you if the repair and or price is reasonable. First thing would be to find a shop that you trust.

You have a bad connection somewhere, probably at one of the battery cables or power distribution box.
