97 Nissan Altima Sign In

I have a 97 Nissan Altima, and one of my headlights has gone out. Since my brights wouldn't work on that side either I figured it wasn't a bulb. When I dug around I found a female end of a light socket (sorry, I don't know the technical name) that plugged into my headlight. This piece was cracked pretty badly, and the prongs wouldn't stay in. How difficult would this be to replace myself? Also, what is the technical name of the part I'm looking for? Thanks in advance.

Re: 97 Nissan Altima Sign In

I don’t think there is a technical term for this other then the headlight plug or socket???
Replacing it is not a big deal you may have to go to the dealer and buy what is call a pigtail repair plug.
Just match mark the wires one at a time not to mix them up.
I would also solder the wire connections to make sure it’s a good connection and then use what’s called heat shrink tube to insulate the connections from each other and from the weather.
Here’s a picture of a repair pigtail, it may not be exactly as yours but it’s close enough to give you an idea of what you’re after
