recently my speedometer stopped working. am i right in guessing that it's an electronic sensor that runs it? i think it's in the transmission...near the tail shaft? is there anyway i can fix this thing myself w/ out having to take it into the shop? i'm running on the tachometer alone now and it's only a matter of time until i get pulled!! help!

The vehicle speed sensor is the speedometer control if there is no cable. It can be checked with the key on engine off. Unplug the sensor and jump the terminals rapidly with a paperclip. Have an assistant watch the speedo as you do this. If the speedo deflects as you jumper the harness, replace the sensor. Steve
