97 Chevy S-10 Pickup - Problem with Windshield Wipers, and turn signal Sign In

I doubt the 2 problems are related, but I'll list it anyways, as it might be.

Anyways, my windshield wipers seem to work very sporadicly. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, sometimes they only half work. Considering wet season is coming on, I think it'd be best to get these working ASAP.

Anyways, details!

The wipers seem to work more in the cold then in the heat. Just from my experience. If they don't work at all, I can actually hear the motor trying working, its a low buzzing noise, but nothing happens. Plus, the windshield sprayer doesn't work at all.

When they half work, they'll wipe a few times, but stop right in the middle of my window. Plus, the timer will be completely off. Example, I might push it for just 1 swipe, but they will keep on wiping on their own, usually stopping in the middle of my window. If I set it for every 5 seconds or so, it'll swipe more then once(usually 3 or 4), randomly stop, sometimes in the middle of my windshield, continue indefinitely, stop randomly, etc... Also, the sprayer doesn't work at all.

Now, sometimes, they work just fine. Timing will be perfect, sprayer works, all speeds work. Randomly though sometimes they'll just stop. Not in the middle of my windshield, but just stop, like I turned them off. Switching it to high speed will usually fix this, and it'll be working perfectly again.

And as to the turn signal, they don't work. At all. Hazards work. Not the blinkers though. But if I turn one on, there is a definite power drain. The lights will dim slightly for half a second.

Any help at all will be appreciated. Now, I don't know much about cars, or electrical systems. But I am a quick learner, and (hopefully), can figure out any explanation given. Thanks in advanced.

I had the same problem with the wipers on a 94 S-10. It turned out that the box under the hood that houses the circuit board was not sealed well and dirt had gotten in. When it would rain, enough moisture would get in the box to cause it to fail. I ended up pulling the cover off the box, cleaning the board with some electronics spray cleaner and re-sealing the box with some silicone. Never failed again after that.

I don't know what to say about the turn signal issue.

I agree on the wiper delay module being faulty. As for the turn signals, check the flasher first. You can try swapping it with the hazard flasher if they are the same. If not, pick one up at a parts supplier. They're only a few bucks. If that doesn't cure what ails it, you may have a problem with the directional switch. Try the flasher first and let us know.
