Ok i am having some very aggravating issues with my 91 sentra se-r. To make a long story short, the car died one day, I have since replaced the battery and alternator both tested to be good but after the car sits for a few hours it will not startup without a jumpstart. I unhooked the amp wiring to my battery terminal and this seemed to provide some extra time before the car wouldn't start but now I am having the same issues. the only other idea i would have is that the starter is bad but would it cause the car to act like this? I am not very mechanically inclined but I know my way around the car. there is an aftermarket stereo that was in it when i bought it(turns off when car is turned off) and apparently the kid i got it from was an idiot and wired all sorts of stupid Sh!t wrong like light up foot pedals that had to be taken out because they were causing serious electrical issues.
There is a digital clock on the dash that runs all the time but none of the other gauges work except for gas gauge and i can't find anything else that would drain the battery.

Please help Ive already spent more on the car than it was worth and i really want to fix this issue, as I am carless. Thank you.

Best bet is there is a short or drain that's constant. With all the messed with wiring I'd be checking all that first. You can test for drain by unhooking the neg battery cable and run a test light between battery and cable. All hood lights, and interior lights must be off -- you may want to pull bulbs if easy enough.

Bet the test light is lit -- ah ha! a drain. Now take fuses out of suspect items one by one and if the light goes out at least you know that's the circuit with an attitude and start chasing it down from there.

Test is fairly easy, finding exactly where could take some time. Hope that helps, T
