89 Jimmy 4.3 primary ignition problem Sign In

Engine turns over, battery fully charged and I have no spark from the secondary wire from the coil. I replaced the coil thinking that the problem, yet still no spark. With the key "on" I have power going into the coil at the pink wire, nothing at the the white, which should just go to the instrument cluster. I have power at both the pink and white going into the distributor to the ign. module, from the coil....which seems correct to me. There is no power going from the four wires to the ECM from the ign. module. The ign. module isnt that old and other than that being the problem, are there any other suggestions ? I love working on the old cars when everything made sense, I'm totally confused and any help, or hints would be most appreciated......Thanks in advance

The next step is to see if the injectors are pulsing. If you have injector pulse, replace the ignition module. If there is no injector pulse, replace the pickup inside the distributor. I would suggest if you have access to a scan tool use one. You can look at the data stream and you will be looking at the RPM as you crank the engine over. No RPM reading would indicate the pickup is faulty or the distributor is not turning. An RPM reading would show that the problem is isolated to the ignition system.

I know this is a long shot but hear me out. My son has a 92 Blazer w/ 4.3. His ses light was coming on with a crank to cam timing code. I cant remember the code number. It drove me nuts for months but finally quit running with no spark. We traced it to the distributor not turning. We pulled the distributor and the drive gear looked like an apple core it was so chewed up. I tried to look into the dist hole to see the condition of the cam gear but this was not happening. I then washed the cam gear with brake cleaner (in the blind), changed the oil and filter, new dist gear and now after 4000 miles all is well. This also cured the ses light problem. If you do have to go this route keep in mind there is a timing mark on the dist gear.

A new ign. module fixed the problem, was hard to believe as the one it replaced was barely a month old. This time I got one with a lifetime warranty. Many thanks to Steve and mw1871 for the reply and advice I'll keep for future.
