The truck had been running fine. Left the lights on. Recharged the battery. Check fine. But now the lights won't come on and the engine won't fire up.
Checked the fuses, wiring-ground, to starter, and alternator and they are fine. No visible burnt wires.
Changed the ignition switch too.
Help?

Have you actually had the battery tested for capacity and cleaned all the terminals.
If so, check the fusible links at the starter. Pull on each one to see if any stretch to indicate burn out.

Hey Hammer Time,
I will look into it. Today I realized they gave me the wrong relay, so I got the new one today. Also they just did a quick hour charge. I will have them do full over night charge. Also I am a novice... just a guy who loved his truck when he bought it a couple of months ago. So concerning the starter... could you be more specific about what it is a need to do with the starter.

Off the terminal the pos cable goes to on the starter are some other power feed wires that use fusible link wire (meaning a little section of the wire will burn/break as protection), you can gently tug on the wires and if one stretches, that indicates the wire is burnt....
I do have to say that there seems to be something missing from your story. Like something got hooked up backwards or sparked or something else. If the truck was running, you drained the battery, there is no reason it shouldn't start with a good battery.......

I agree. I assumed that when I recharged the battery... there would at least be some lights. NADA. Today I took time of from work and was able to turn the truck over when I put a screw driver to the starter; actually my friend did. Took it down to autozone. they tested it and it passed. but we realized it was pretty old and since we had it out; I bought new one. Checked the rotors and decided to change that, too.
Long story short... when I readjusted the relay switch the truck fired up immediately and then it died out. after several minutes of trying to get it started... it turned over but would engage. when we try revving it up again; the carburator caught on fire. "yes" i put gas down the carburator.
So right now the engine trys to turn over but won't catch.
Concerning the original story... it is true. I went to work with my boss, left the office at 12 midnight and it wouldn't start. I have checked all the wires and fuses per everyone suggestions and nada no burnt wires, etc... The relay looked liked one section was burnt though.
It is pretty much stock and the farmer I bought it from in Illinois literally put 3K miles on it a year. I am assuming alot of things just need to be replaced eventually because it is old. because i have all the original receipts i know what has been done.
Any suggestion as to what I need to get it fired up?I check the spark plugs and there was no fire. Hence I changed the rotos. The distributer cap is new and the wiring and spark plugs are new, too. couple of months old.

This is a little confusing but it sounds like you have it cranking now but it won't start?
If that's the case you need to see if you have spark & are getting fuel.
Does this have a carb or throttle body injection on it? Will it start with a small shot of starting fluid? (don't pour gas)
