2015 corolla steering wheel radio controls not working

My 2015 Toyota Corolla LE, (ODO 23k miles) steering wheel radio controls are not working. The buttons affected are the phone/bluetooth controls, the volume up/down, and the mode buttons. The display button and cruise control work 100% of the time. I've taken it to the dealership but they wanted to charge me 200 for the diagnostics. It is an OEM headunit. What is the problem and how can I fix this?

One thread on a subject sport I'll remove the others so it doesn't totally confuse the already confused.
Stick with this one.
Only comment is the question why is a new car that should have a bumper to bumper warranty your problem or expense at all?
If you try to fix this you void that. If not a covered OE item why not?
