Car sputters on initial start up of the day
09 challenger, original owner, 48451 miles, gas tank full.
Replaced my 8 year old (but still functioning) battery a few days ago when sputtering began. Went a day with no issues, didn't use it for a day (sunday) then Monday morning-
Went to turn car on In the am- sputtered (let it try for around 10 seconds). Turned it off. Turned the lights on etc to make sure battery was alive, everything (lights, radio, clock, dash, turned on fine)
Tried again- sputtered another 10s or so. It's a constant try it was not ever stopping.
Tried to look up a cause, saw something about the ignition possibly so I turned the key as far as it would go quickly and it turned on, drove and had no issues.
Started later that day after sitting idle for 6 hours- started totally normally
This am (teus) started up normally and then died 2-3 seconds later.
Tred again and the car sputtered again.
Turned the key hard and fast as far as it went and it turned on again. Car drove 20 mins no issue.
What could the issue?

Gets codes and post #s even if a check engine light isn't on.
If it's going to play intermittent with you that will help most IMO.

Other - you really take chances pushing a battery that long especially a Chrysler product IMO. They can work but risk of shorting inside for split seconds or fully are a real risk. That can and will harm assorted things, some quite serious.
Did the old battery manage to spit acid around and harm other electrical item near it? If so just adds to complications,

Many parts outlet like Autozone advertise free code readings - ask them or similar. Great if you can get a printout with the code #s.
TMK - it's a free service and no purchase required. It's not at all locations I've come to know.
Otherwise pay for a high end code reading whether light is on now or not running poorly something must be in wait and it will know it,

Got it. Will do that shortly.
Sorry didnt see the other half of your earlier post- no the battery was perfect on the outside. The lady at autozone that tested it actually said it was totally functional but still recommended replacement due to its age- so I did.
I certainly cant argue that it could have damaged something else but nothing was damaged at the battery connection or area itself.

Right - Lady was correct. Lead-Acid batteries are flaking bits as they age yet may test OK. When/if flakes touch bottom of plates inside it's trouble. Now you know more than you asked for,

Problem solved, it was a fuel pump relay. Ended up not starting at all (so had progressed) so I got a tow to a local shop who diagnosed it and fixed it for me.

Sounds like good news and fixed so will close out as solved to keep spammers out. Ask any mod if you wish it to be re-opened,
