2008 Malibu electrical issue

I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu 1LT. The original battery died and I bought a replacement. When I attached the battery cables to the battery, the horn blows constantly, the headlights come on and the radiator fan stars blowing. There is also no power inside the car, even if the key is put in the ignition. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Sounds like the alarm has been armed. Try locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key. If that doesn't work, try leaving the key on when you hook up the battery.
