2008 Kia Optima Tail Lights blowing fuses Sign In

2008 Kia Optima 4 cyl 140000 miles
The drivers side tail light went out. Brake Lights and backup lights work fine
Replaced bulbs just to be sure
10 amp fuse in drivers compartment is blowing
Unclipped the driver side clip at the tail light and the fuse does not blow
Replaced the wiring connector from the clip to the bulb - fuse still blows
Inspected the wiring in the trunk area and cannot find worn, frayed, or damaged wires
I am lost about where to go next.

What kind of clip are you referring to?

When I say pin, I am referring to the multi wire connector where each wiring harness is joined.

And where is this connector?

It is in the trunk next to the left tail light. The replacement part was approximately 10 inches long and included the two light sockets and bulbs.

The fuse not blowing when that's disconnected proved the short is after that point. If i understand you correctly, you have replaced this section of harness and the short is still there.

I would try disconnecting it at the bulbs if there is a connector and if not, remove all the bulbs.
Don't overlook the tag light and any side markers.
