2007 buick lacrosse, lost all power. Ignition click, hot battery, key stuck Sign In

I have a 2007 Buick lacrosse, 3.6 v6
140,000 miles.
Car started, backed up and car started making a loud knocking noise, not from engine compartment. Put car in park and shut off. Kept on knocking. Now key will not come out of ignition and negative battery terminal is hot. There is no power to the car. Can't even begin to know where to look for the problem
Thanks
Jake

I would say your best bet is to unhook the battery and get this towed. This car isn't DIY friendly and electrical issues need a trained eye to not mess up something even bigger. Wish I had a better answer, but I'd tow this one in.

Just to add: Sure seems battery shorted itself or to something. Noise AFTER it was shut off! Just be careful and unhook neg of that battery making sure any odors are NOT present and just leave it unhooked.

Noise and a hot battery from any cause has caused problems. Just don't make it worse,

Thanks guys. That's was I was afraid of. We just redid head gaskets about a month ago but this is beyond my reach. I couldn't even find a possible cause by searching the internet. Just bought an 06 buick lucurne prior to all these problems, kinda worried about the future of that one now

I put the battery on a charger overnight. It now has power and I was able to get the keys out and windows rolled up. When I try to turn the key it makes a very faint tapping noise. Atleast I can get it in gear instead of dragging it out of the driveway on a tow truck.

Lacrosse and Lucern are apples and oranges. My mom has the same year Lucerne and it has been headache free. But time will tell.
