So a month ago I'm on my way back from Anaheim and my car dies and the gauges start to spasticly vibrate. The tow truck driver says after checking out the battery that its probably the corrosion on the cables do to the fact that the terminals are clean but if the cables were moved the car could start back up. I cleaned the cables and drove home to Phoenix. Everything's fine cars running smooth up until about 2 weeks ago. That's when the check charging system light briefly flickered on and off. I thought it must be the cable again so I went and cleaned it. seemed to do the job at first. However it quickly became apparent the next week that something else was wrong because the battery seemed to be getting low. I took it in and got the cables replaced and got a new re-manufactured alternator but the battery is still draining. I checked all the fuses to see if any where burnt out but no luck. I tested it and it says the new alternator not putting enough voltage out. Whats a good next step to take

See if you have power on the main terminal of the alternator with the key OFF.

Where was the measurement of the alternator's output made and what is it? Have you had the battery tested?
