2004 Buick Rendezvous, replace cigarette lighter and door ajar light Sign In

I have a 2004 buick rendezvous 3.4 v6, about 130,000 miles. I was changing the fuse for the cigarette lighter a couple of days ago(for GPS to work), long story short, it isnt the fuse I need a new cigarette lighter. Dang thing has given me nothing but trouble from day one. Lifetime supply of fuses. Can someone tell me how to go about doing that. Also, later the same day when I went to town I noticed my door ajar light was on. All the doors are shut good. Played ring around the buick shutting them twice. Checked to make sure I didnt accidentally jar fuses and I didnt. I cant figure it out. I locked it when I went in the store and the alarm kept going off. HELP! How do I fix this???

You probably have two issues.

1st. Do you mean a real cig lighter or power port? Cig lighters make lousy ports for things and can change them to just power ports but wont light a lighter if that one again. If ever used they usually get yucky inside and lousy contacts.

2nd. Door ajar when doors closed? Does this have sliding side doors(s)? Those contacts if still done that way on this exact model sometimes don't touch well or strong enough. Clean first and same if done that way with a lift gate.

Regular doors could be in the mix also for door ajar even from not lubing hinges routinely door may not strike properly shut for that on regular doors. Make a habit of lubing them at oil change times latches, hinges even any rollers for a sliding door and free of dirt.

I think it's two issues both annoying of course,
