  Heres the deal:
I got a 2003 Galant ES from my brother. Hes had some problems with it for quite sometime now and wanted to get rid of it so I took it from him. Heres whats Been going on.

A while back he was trying to install an Aftermarket radio, by cutting the original connector off the end and was going to solder the new harness on. Well, it didnt quite happen like that as he couldnt ever get the Illumination to work. So he left the wires disconnected and eventually (Unknown how) ended up losing his Speed-O, Odometer and Cruise Control. None of the three work any longer. The Odometer still reads 13k miles and this was 2 years ago or so. He says he doesnt know how they stopped working that he hadnt done anything to it before he noticed. However, He has gone out and messed with it quite a bit and noticed that he tapped a Certain Wire (Yellow w/ Black Stripe) against a bare surface the Speed-O meter will bounce and slowly but surely the Trip Meter will go up a .1 ever few taps.
Well, summer came around and he goes to turn on the A/C and it works fine - For a random amount of time. As he is driving around the car will "putter" and the Tach will bounce then die. He says this is completley random timing, but says it is almost ALWAYS when he is coming to a stop. He says if he pushes the little snow flake button on the A/C knob the car will stob "puttering" and not die.
Well, He ended up taking it to a Auto Electrical shop before he sold it to me and had a guy look it over. The guy SAYS he repaired a wire, but he needs the original stereo to test the car. Well it just so happens he lost the original connector and cant get it to the guy, But has his aftermarket stuff. The guy tells him that wont work, and he needs the original. Well the car is brought home and a OEM Harness is ordered. He attempted to put the OEM Stereo in and got it powered, But the Speed-O,Odometer, and Cruise still dont work PLUS now he sees his speakers arent working either.

Well, Thats where Im at now. Trying to get the Speed-O, Odometer, Cruise control and the car to not die.
Before I get started on this - I'll take any and all advice I can.
Thanks.

What's the problem? I won't read all that crap to figure it out. One line friend does well. T

Simply put then:

The Speed-O,Odometer, Cruise Control doesnt work.
The Car dies @ random times when using the A/C.
All happened when replacing Radio.

If radio was just an OE replacment that's confusing?? If other it needs to come out and see what wiring was messed with,

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night, T

OK. Let's try to hash this out. First off, the yellow/black wire that made the speedometer react. Was this one of the cut wires or not? If it was, you need to find the other cut end and solder them together. Speedo fixed. Without the speedo working the cruise will not work either. The idea is to keep the vehicle at a constant speed. If the VSS circuit is open, the cruise will be defeated. Fix this yel/blk wire first then drive it. You may find that this is the only problem.
