2002 Lexus Is300 3.0 212000 Miles A few weeks ago my passenger side headlight went out. It was the HID headlight that went out. It randomly came back on a few times and now it does nothing. I had my brother look at it. We had the silver power cable disconnected from the bulb and while he stood by the headlight I turned on the headlights and it started arching like crazy and making like a fast clicking noise. The end of the bulb that was in it was busted apart. I tried 1 replacement bulb. It came on but stated smoking almost immediately and burned out within about 10 seconds. What could the problem be? Nothing has happened to the car and no work has been done to it that would cause suck a problem. Please help!

I've see a lot of those HID systems that get so hot inside that housing that it destroys the insulation on the wiring in there and leaves bare wires all over the place. It's obvious that you had a short circuit but what isn't know is how much damage has been done to the components. There is usually a module and a transformer in there and either could be burnt out now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
