2002 Chevy Silverado power lock actuator problem Sign In

The power lock quit working. I could lock and unlock the door manually or with the key. I bought a new actuator and replaced the old one. Now the lock works with the button but if you tell it to lock the door it unlocks the door and if you push the button (tell it ) to unlock the door the actuator locks the door. All wires are keyed so I can not switch the wires around. Is this a bad actuator or did I do something wrong that I am unaware of???

Generally these things simply reverse polarity to a motor (actuator) to go one way or the other. If the color or wiring when you changed it got reversed that could happen or maybe the new actuator is wired backwards?? It works and want to know if both or more doors are behaving, T

I called the parts place where I bought the actuator and they have ordered another one. The only answer they had was that it was wired wrong and we would try another actuator. The way GM keys the wires there should be no way you can reverse the wires. Thank for the reply I will let you know after the part comes in if that was the problem.

You are right that the plug should not allow you to screw up. I have had some rebuilt parts come with just stripped wire and you had to test that they went the intended way, T

Thanks for the help but I guess the problem was the actuator because I got another new one and put it on and NO MORE PROBLEM!! They must have wired it wrong at the factory where it was made. Door locks when you tell it to lock and unlock when you tell it to unlock (push the button).

Glad it's straightened out but damn it's frustrating when new parts fail or are wrong. It happens too much, T
