2001 dodge caravan alternator
|

|
I am trying to remove the alternator from my 2001 dodge grand caravan ex. I removed 2 bolts and it still is not coming off. I was curious if anyone knows how many bolts hold it in. I can not find any more holding it but wont come loose.

Thank you. I got it out and replaced. now it wont start I hear clicking from the fuse box near the relays and the belt does not turn.

Did it start before you replaced the alternator? What was the reason for replacing the alternator?

originally the belt snapped. when i looked the alternator would not spin freely, (like i told it should and the new one did before I installed it). yes it started and ran before replacing the alternator and belt.

Is the battery fully charged and tested good? Connections clean and tight at the battery? Does this have an aftermarket alarm system installed?
Did the alternator pulley lock up?
Did you spin the other accessory pulleys to be sure they are free too when you had the belt off?

Maybe a quick rap on the starter body with a hammer to see if that gets it to crank?

van was jumped to start, battery is only 2 months old and is still clean, no alarm system, all other this rotated properly. the original alternator would not spin where the belt attached

ok now i have not noises and the belt is turning, all i need was mess with the fuses and relays. maybe something was knocked loose, or the computer made an adjustment to something. no clue - do not know much about cars but it seems to be fine, thanks for all the quick replies.

Glad to read you got it figured out even though there was some confusion as to the belt spins but the engine doesn't crank. Closed as solved.
