1999 mazda protege - aftermarket imobilizer / alarm Sign In

Hi, my 1999 mazda protege wont start :-(

I am certain that its the imobiliser that is causing it not to start. When I try start the ignition the hazards flash, and nothing happens but alot of loud clicking sounds, the engine isnt turning over at all. The alarm system I think is an aftermarket system although it has mazda branding on the fob. I havent been usig the fob to unlock for a while as I never really trusted it, just been locking manualy.

I have located the alarm unit under the bonet, can I simply just cut the wires to the unit? I guess not because what would stop a theif doing that....

How can I disconect the unit? Will I have to take it to an auto electritian? Is there something I can do myself? Im not to concerend if the car would be without an imobilizer.

Any help would be appreciated

Eddie

Most aftermarket alarm modules won't be located under the hood. Don't cut any wires unless you know exactly what they are for. If the alarm module is removed, the circuits it was intregrated into are going to have to be spliced.

There is a black box just under the bonet, top left with a circle key hole on it, which I have the key for. The key hole has threenoptions on / off / test. Not with the car now, can remember what its switched to, but if I put the key in and try switch it the alarm goes off. Also coming from this black box there is a wire that leads to a crudly fit bonnet sensor.

Take it to an auto electrition then I guess! Was just looking for a quick fix that maybe I could do myself.
