1998 Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.25 Battery Sign In

Hi everyone

Im looking for a bit of help and I found this site so i thought i would give it a go.

A couple of weeks ago i went to my car and tried to start it but it just made a slow turning over sound with rapid clicks. i think this was because my battery had lost some of its charge so I jump started it and it started fine but this morning I went to start it and it did the sae thing again. I am going to buy a new battery today but my real question is that for the last couple of months my remote locking stopped working. the batery in the key was OK as the red light still comes on but the car doesnt do anything when it is pressed. About 4 weeks ago it started working agani randomly for about a week and a half then it stopped again. Also recently the interior light stopped coming on when the driver door was opened, it works fine for the passenger door but not the driver. Again this intermitantly comes back.

Do you think these problems might be related to my battery being on its last legs?

Hope someone can help

Cheers

Steve

I would say replace the battery in the key fob for the remote locks. The internal battery may have enough juice to light the LED but may not have enough to send the signal. As for the interior light, check the driver's side door jamb switch. It could be worn out or simply just sticking enough where it won't come all of the way out to close the circuit.

Hey thanks for replying

I haveput in a new battery now and the door light seems to have sorted itself out and I put in the reset code for my remote locking, which I found online, and thats working now too. Maybe the baterry was to blame for everything.

I took it out for a spin after changing the battery and it seems much nippier than it was before, much quicker and more responsive, id noticed before that when I accelerated the car always felt like something was holding it back and it wasnt going as fast as it should be.

the battery wouldnt affect this would it???

Whenever a battery is weak, all electrical and electronic systems are affected. If the car runs great with a new battery, I would say you are all set.
