1996 z71 brake lights Sign In

i have a 1996 chevy z71 the brake lights are not working. fuses are good and i believe the switch and relay is good because i can hear the relay click when the brake is pushed. i am not sure where the signal goes from the relay but hazards and blinkers work and they run on the same wire to the lights so if anyone has any advice please help

For a test unplug the brake light switch. If it changes symptoms I'd bet that's it, T

Slow down friend!! A brake light switch is generally right at the base of the metal of the brake pedal. It may look different than a door jam light switch but not all that hard to get at and check or replace, T

With you hearing a relay clicking when you apply the brake pedal the stop light switch is likely ok; this is assuming that it’s the brake light relay that is doing the clicking.
All brake lights go through the turn signal switch (other then the high mount). So if the high mount brake light is working and the turn signals are working; the next place to test would be the turn signal switch. The internal connection for the brake lights in the turn signal switch may have gone bad.
I’m not saying this is it for sure but I’ve had to change a lot of signal switches for this problem. It’s a fairly complicated wiring system so I suggest taking the vehicle in and let someone diagnose it for you. The switch is not cheap to be replacing it on a guess.
