1996 Audi a4 no start cold unless jumped. (Turns over fine) Sign In

I am stumped. My car is a 96 a4 2.8 v-6 quattro 5 speed. It will not start when the ambient air temperature is below say 25 degrees; unless I jump it off my truck. Now it should be noted that it will not start off a booster pack. It has to be connected to another vehicle. It cranks over fine just doesn't fire, I know that the battery has enough juice. I load tested the battery and its within spec, it is Less than a year old. I took all the battery connections apart and cleaned them. Cleaned the chassis ground as well. Once the car is warm it starts fine every time. Less than 2 revolutions and its running. I have replaced the plug wires and plugs. Nobody has ever experienced this before.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

If it won't start on it's own but it will start when boosted, then you either have insufficient battery or a bad connection at the battery. All you are doing is adding more battery power.

That just means the booster pack is junk.

haha, no...the booster pack is fine. It starts other vehicles without issue. This problem has everyone i've asked scratching their head.

Nobody here is scratching their head. The car won't start. You add more battery power, it starts. That's pretty simple. Your battery doesn't have enough power to do the job or it's not making it to the cable.

Boost pack charged up? Have your battery tested and make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight as HT was pointing out.

Just on boost pack: If you didn't spend $300 bucks, fully charged and claw ends that take both hands it's junk. Might start something that is real close but not enough for many unless wildly powerful and forget the ratings they put on the dang things for the most part,
