1995 Nissan Maxima SE Not Starting

1995 Nissan Maxima SE Not Starting

My '95 Maxima SE will not start (periodically). New starter, new ignition switch and getting 12.5 volts at starter. Right after installing new ignition switch, engine started perfectly 3x in a row. Then I ran the engine in idle for about 10 min, turned it off then went to start again and it wouldn't even engage the starter. Can hear relays clicking under dash and some clicking at the starter. Tried jumper on clutch saftey switch on floor board behind clutch but nothing... Puzzled.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get a wiring diagram for your system.
You can start off down at the starter. Check for voltage on the small trigger wire going to the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position. More than likely you won't have power but it's always best to confim this so you don't waste time going down the wrong path.
Once no voltage is confirmed, look at the diagram and see where, the wire gets power from, more than likely the ign switch. Start there at the beginning. When it's not starting, confirm you have power coming out of the ign sw when the key is turned and then it's just a matter of tracing the wire down to see where you are losing power at.
If there is any aftermarket alarms on the car, I would disable those 1st to make sure this isn't the cause. I haven't checked this model but if there is a factory security system, that also would need to be checked to make sure it isn't the cause of the no start...

Ignition switch is new just replaced. Questioning relays... ( theft warning, clutch interlock, clutch interlock switch ). Haynes manual on hand with wiring schematic but kinda confusing.
